ABOUT AQUIDNECK FARMS

Aquidneck Farms is located in Portsmouth, RI and is managed by Farmscapes, LLC. Over the past five years Farmscapes has been working towards protecting threatened farmland parcels in its rapidly suburbanizing community. By utilizing development rights, collaborating with conservation organizations, local and state government programs and developing an agricultural strategy relevant and sustainable in today’s world we have protected over 150 Acres on Aquidneck Island.

Enhancing the rural character of scenic Wapping Road, Aquidneck Farms is an assemblage of owned and leased conservation properties. In 2004, we started growing grass. In 2006, we added cattle. In 2008, we were ready to bring a grass-fed beef product to market. In 2009 we added hens and broilers. Currently the farm houses a 98 head Angus/Hereford herd, a small flock of pastured heritage hens and broilers and produces hay and forage for sale to local farms. Our goal is to maintain a herd of around 100 head; finishing 60 steers a year for local customers.
